ADULT EDUCATION

Education has always been a core component of our mission. Our Adult Education programs focus on providing accessible, practical courses to help students expand their skills, employment opportunities and increase their wages. Taught by a dedicated group of staff and volunteers, many of our programs offer on-going, one-to-one instruction to provide the support each individual needs to achieve long-term success. Both daytime and evening classes are offered throughout the year.

Due to Covid-19, Adult Education programs will be held virtually to keep our students, staff and volunteers safe. At this time, the Career and College Readiness program will remain on hold until further notice.

HiSET Test Prep

The High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) program (formerly called GED program) at Beverly Bootstraps provides high school-level instruction in language arts, reading, social studies, science, and mathematics aligned with the Common Core State Standards. With a HiSET certificate, our students can greatly improve their career and salary potential.

Until further notice, HiSET tutoring will be one-on-one virtual sessions through Zoom at mutually agreed upon times with the student and tutor. An initial meeting/training with small groups of students, in a socially distanced model, will be held to ensure students understand expectations and to have their technology access and understanding assessed. Testing will also be held on-site in dedicated testing spaces.

ESOL

Our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program focuses on basic communication skills. Our aim is for students to become confident, accurate, fluent speakers and writers of English. Class time is used to learn proper grammar, practice skills and engage in conversation with classmates and native speakers.

Until further notice, classes will be held virtually via Zoom in small groups. These classes will be held at pre-scheduled days and times. An initial meeting/training with small groups of students, in a socially distanced model, will be held to ensure students understand expectations and to have their technology access and understanding assessed.

Please note: there is currently a waiting list for ESOL classes.
