Back to School Program | Summer Camp | Adopt-A-Family Program
The Youth Education programs strive to provide mentoring and academic support to youth at risk of academic failure. Youth have the opportunity to connect with other youth, have a nutritious snack and are provided tutoring. Beyond tutoring, youth have access to the on-site library, school supplies to start off the academic year, opportunities for summer camp, gifts over the holidays and their families have full access to Bootstraps services.
Objectives
1. Youth will complete homework assignments on time.
2. Youth will develop healthy homework routines.
3. Youth’s grades will improve in relation to their homework.
4. Youth will develop healthy relationships.
5. Youth will engage in educational topics relating to healthy bodies, financial literacy and nutrition.
6. Youth will be given age appropriate books to keep.
Youth Literacy Program
The Youth Literacy Program offers books to school-age children through the on-site library to encourage children to read year-round. This program promotes the importance of reading and assists low-income youth to build their own home library. The child keeps any books he/she has chosen. During the summer months, books are distributed to youth attending summer parks programs.
Homework Club
The after-school Homework Club focuses on meeting the educational needs of 10 –15 low-income children from the Beverly Community. The club meets three days a week for 1 ½ hours. Youth are supported with their homework through tutoring and peer support. Tutoring is available every day the club meets. Tutors consist of Staff, Interns, and Volunteers.
This after-school program provides mentoring and educational support to children at risk for academic failure living in the communities we serve. Students can be referred to the program by their parents or by the school they attend.
Register by submitting a permission slip signed by the participant's parent/guardian. This permission slip would allow Beverly Bootstraps Community Outreach Program Staff to speak with the Beverly Public Schools and allow participants to attend planned Field Trips.
Program begins September 21, 2009. Click here for Homework Club Registration Form.
