What's New at Beverly Bootstraps!
- Between our own Cole Street Community Gardeners
and our partnerships with the Trustees of Reservations, Appleton Farms
and the Food Project, we were able to offer our food pantry guests hundreds and hundreds of pounds of organic fresh
produce over the 2007 growing season.
- Our Thrift Shop at 198 Rantoul St. is
now open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
- Relocated to one of our new classrooms at 371 Cabot St. our Homework Club
is buzzing with our volunteer tutors helping a roomfull of first through fifth graders
afterschool eager to get help with their homework every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
- Thanks to our part-time GED Coordinator Steve Page and our many wonderful volunteers,
our GED High School Equivalency Exam Prep Classes
and our English As a Second Language Classes
continue to offer people 'a hand up, not a hand out'.
- Thanks to grants from Cell Signal,
the Jr. League of Marblehead, the
Forest Foundation and
The Heritage Salem Five Foundation,
our new Middle School Cyber Cafe
is able to offer low-income middle schoolers a chance to improve their internet and
computer skills and do reasearch and homework in a safe, porn-free environment with healthy
snacks and a skilled cybercafe manager.
