Advocacy & Referrals
Outreach staff are available to offer:
- Assistance applying for DTA and Food Stamp benefits online. www.mass.gov
- Assistance accessing local programs such as fuel assistance. www.nscap.org
- Help with an eviction, a notice to quit or court summons
- Rent or Mortgage arrearages
- Assistance completing public housing applications
- Financial Literacy Classes (Please click here for the upcoming schedule)
- Individual budget review
Outreach staff maintains close relationships with local housing authorities; through this relationship we are able to assist and advocate for client who are applying for Federal or State housing. If you need assistance please call an outreach staff person for assistance at 978-927-1561.

In cases of emergency situations Outreach staff are available to assist clients with furniture donations through one of the following venues:
- Bootstraps Thrift Shop
- Donations made to Bootstraps
- Furniture Bank
- Mission Of Deeds
Fund to Prevent Homelessness
The Fund to Prevent Homelessness (http://www.ftph.org/) has been helping families since 1989. This organization is a tax-exempt non-profit charity focused on providing confidential assistance to working families who are facing foreclosure or eviction due to unusual circumstances that have depleted their financial resources. The fund supports families that do not qualify for other funding and would otherwise fall through the cracks.
Communities Served – Beverly, Essex, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Rockport and Wenham.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be a family, as defined as a minimum of one child living with an adult.
- Working and able to meet future payments once overdue rent or mortgage is paid.
- Facing eviction or foreclosure.
- Not qualified for welfare assistance.
Meeting with an Outreach Coordinator to confirm other eligibility requirements and provide financial consulting.
