Beverly CAN - April 30, 2011
This year’s one day event will be held during the Pear Blossom Festival hosted by Beverly Main Streets on
Saturday, April 30th. Teams will build their structure in the morning and display for the day. Prizes will be awarded to teams entered in three categories: Youth, Business and Adult. All canned goods will be donated to Beverly Bootstraps Community Services’ Food Pantry and distributed to those in need.
How the Event Works
The morning of April 30th, teams will get together on the Common and build a 2 or 3 dimensional canned structure based on our theme Spring in Beverly. Teams will have 3 or more hours to complete their structure. The structure will be on display throughout the day and prizes will be awarded around 1pm. Later in the afternoon, we will have volunteers dismantle the structures and deliver them to our food pantry. The sculptures will be built on plywood and canvas.
Teams can have up to 15 members:
- Sculptures may be two- or three-dimensional works of art.
- The base of each sculpture may not exceed eight feet by ten feet.
- All sculptures must be free-standing.
- All sculptures must be built on-site at the venue
- Teams may not tamper with the food labels in any way.
- Containers may not be dented or damaged.
- Velcro, adhesive putty, or elastic bands may be used for stability of sculpture, but must be cleanly removed from the cans following the judging and public display.
Teams will be responsible for getting their own canned goods. Contact Ashley Ganem who will provide a donation letter. Another way to get canned goods donated is through food drives. Food that we look for at food drives are: Peanut Butter, Canned Fruit, Baked Beans, Rice, Cereal, Juice Boxes, Canned Tuna, Canned Veggies, and so on.
If you are interested in starting or sponsoring a team, please contact Ashley by email or phone, (978) 927-1561 x25. Stay tuned for more info.
