Don't Miss the Third Annual Best Chef Competition

The third annual Bootstraps Best Chef Competition, emceed by the Phantom Gourmet's Dave Andelman, is being held Monday, March 5 at 6:00pm at an exiting new location - Danversport Yacht Club! Our 3rd Annual Best Chef will feature dueling chefs from Lobsta Land, 15 Walnut, 62 Wharf and La Chanterelle. A “Taste of the North Shore” will round out the evening. Attendees will also get a chance to win prizes from the Live and Silent Auctions.  All proceeds of the event will go to support Beverly Bootstraps Community Services.

In the vein of the Iron Chef Television series, this event will feature four local chefs from around the North Shore battling it out for the esteemed title of Bootstraps' Best Chef. What makes this competition unique is that the chefs must use 75% of their ingredients from the Bootstraps food pantry; only 25% can come from their own kitchens. The chefs will prepare the food live at the event, with the cameras rolling and the winner named on the spot.

Prior to the chef competition, local bartenders will test their skills in the cocktail realm. They will use their creativity to design a new cocktail and the judges will crown the winner. Judges for the evening will include food personalities from the area, as well as the winning chef from 2011; Harry’s 240 Chef Steve O’Connor.

Last year's competition was a success, drawing over 150 attendees, attracting significant media attention, and raising more than $23,000 that directly benefitted families in need. Our fundraisers enable us to stock the shelves of our food pantry, provide heating and rental assistance to families in transition, and offer education and counseling to adults and teens seeking greater self-sufficiency. Harry's 240 "Chicken Cordon Bleu"

Ham and american cheese stuffed chicken breast with a Ritz cracker breading.

Served with sweet pea sauce, instant mashed potato, cheddargoldfish and corn cake.

Butter lettuce salad with chick peas, green beans, carrots, red onion and mandarin orange vinagrette.
